When I tell people that I am a travel advisor, I am often asked “people still use travel agents?” I laugh a little and simply respond that the travel agency industry is very strong and just as relevant today as it was several decades ago.
You see, despite the onset of online travel agents (OTA) such as Expedia, Travelocity, etc., people want real human interaction. They want someone to handle the work for them. They simply are not going to get that with an OTA. Most people don’t even realize that when they use an OTA they are still paying commissions and hidden fees.
