Alaskan Cruise Journal: Day 1 - Embarkation Day

Another good night of rest 💤 last night. Up and ready early this morning. Got some breakfast ☕️ and got checked in for our transfers to the cruise terminal. The bellmen came to the room to get our luggage 🧳 to take to the ship for us. Then we had a bit of a wait in the lobby until it was time for our transfer.

When we got to the cruise terminal it was a pretty quick process. We had to check in, and fortunately since we had our medallions already we were able to skip a long wait. Then through customs and security before boarding the ship 🛳. Once on the ship we went to have lunch where we got to visit with a fun, older couple from Australia 🇦🇺.

After lunch we were able to go to our staterooms. Once there we did our safety procedures which included watching a 2-minute video and then going to check in at our muster stations 🛟. Following this we went back to our rooms to unpack and rest a bit.

Shortly before 4pm we headed up to the top deck for the sailaway party 🎉. Once we got going the temperature really started to drop as the cool ocean air was breezing over the ship. It felt wonderful!

We then walked around the ship to just check her out some more before sitting by one of the aft pools until dinner.

At dinner, we visited with an older Tennessee couple. They sure could talk a lot but we had fun visiting with them nonetheless. Supper was very tasty. I had the Alaskan Ale Braised Beef for my entree with Baked Alaska for dessert.

After supper we went to the main theatre to hear tonight’s entertainment which was a comedy show by Mike Siegel. He was funny but I’ve certainly heard funnier.

Following the show we went back to our rooms for the night.
